What If the Church Wept Over Abortion?
Weeping is one of the deepest expressions of emotion. It's a place where words don't even come close to being adequate. Whether we face a loss or it seems like life just doesn't make sense, we long to know the answers to the why?" and "what now?"
Taken from the story of Lazarus of Bethany (John 11:1-44), Jesus wept is a verse in the bible that reminds us that God deeply loves us. God is grieved, even angered over the brokenness of life and the impact it has on us. Jesus wept and the story of Lazarus clearly demonstrates God's heart towards us. Ultimately, He is moved because we matter to Him-- because we are all made in His image. Imagine if the church responded in the same way as Jesus to the impact the brokenness of life has had on the preborn.
Abortion is a spiritual issue. it's a direct attack on the image of God. This matters to Him. The pre-born are the largest hidden people group in the world. Each year, abortion physically ends the lives of 42 million-- that's more than one life every second, of every minute, of every day. Whether we're aware of it or not, the truth is that there is someone we each know who's been affected by abortion. The impact of abortion is devastating; and to be honest, most of us are blind to it.
The most profound life-giving act in history occurred when God sent Jesus, His only Son, to die on the cross for us. God invites us to receive it, respond to it, and then reflect Him to others with our words and our actions.
Through the work of the HOPE Center, lives are being transformed spiritually and saved physically. Women and families facing unplanned pregnancy and the impact of abortion can be met with truth, love, and hope for the future. The heart of Jesus is the heart of our ministry-- to glorify God and to demonstrate His character. We invite you to prayerfully consider how you can enter this mission field created by abortion. Together, we can make a difference for LIFE!
